About Celestial Editorial
Celestial Editorial is the exoplanet-profile arm of IPPW 2023 — The International Planetary Probe Workshop collective. We publish systematically compiled profiles of every confirmed exoplanet in order to support two constituencies: researchers writing about specific worlds, and mission planners assessing target candidates for future interstellar probe concepts.
Our Focus
We are not a general astronomy outlet. Every profile is written with one question in mind: what is known about this world that would matter to someone planning a probe mission, a direct-imaging campaign, or a habitability study? That focus narrows our editorial scope but sharpens the utility of each page.
Editorial Standards
- • All astrophysical measurements are sourced from the NASA Exoplanet Archive (
pscompparstable). - • Derived metrics — planet classification, Earth Similarity Index, habitable-zone position — are computed editorially using published formulae.
- • We publish only planets marked as confirmed (non-controversial) and with at least 25 out of 40 tracked fields populated.
- • Each profile is timestamped with the snapshot date and refreshed as new measurements land.
Who We Work With
Planetary science researchers, astronomy educators, graduate students, and science communicators are our primary audience. We welcome correction requests — see Editorial Policy for the corrections process.
